Kitchen Islands

Available in a range of sizes, they’re the perfect addition for your kitchen. If you cook often, an island can provide extra surface area for kneading dough, prepping food, or rolling out pastry. It can also provide a place for people to gather and socialize while you're cooking. Designed to last, all our kitchen islands are guaranteed for 15 years.

Create the kitchen of your dreams with our kitchen islands

Whether you're prepping tonight's dinner, kneading dough for weekend baking or gathering the family for a relaxed breakfast, a kitchen island brings extra workspace and storage exactly where you need it. These hardworking pieces offer that perfect spot for chopping vegetables, rolling out pastry or simply putting your feet up with a cup of tea whilst keeping an eye on things bubbling away on the hob.

Find your perfect style

Our collection spans several much-loved ranges, each with its own character. The Chester Dove Grey kitchen island brings classic country styling with its soft grey tones, whilst the Chester Charcoal version adds depth and drama to neutral spaces. For those drawn to natural warmth, our Inglesham Whitewash Oak kitchen island showcases the timber's beautiful grain with a hand-applied whitewash finish. The Sussex Cotswold Cream range suits both contemporary and country classic kitchens with its clean lines and soft cream paint.

Thoughtfully designed for real life

We've created islands in sizes to suit different spaces and needs. Choose from compact designs measuring around 82cm wide, perfect for smaller kitchens, through to generous 148cm islands that become the heart of a busy family kitchen. You'll find solid wood butcher block tops ideal for food preparation, elegant granite surfaces that stand up to daily use, and smooth white marble that adds timeless style. Practical slatted shelving keeps pots, pans and cookery books organised, whilst deep drawers with dovetail joints offer sturdy storage for utensils and kitchen essentials. Some designs include handy towel rails and oak storage crates, and our breakfast bar islands come complete with three stools for casual dining.

Built with our Signature Cotswold Quality

Every island is crafted using traditional woodworking methods including mortise and tenon frames for strength that lasts. We use premium oak and oak veneers with hand-applied finishes that enhance the natural grain, alongside four layers of paint for a hardwearing surface. Each piece arrives fully assembled and ready to enjoy, backed by our 15-year structural guarantee. It's furniture made with care, designed for life, and built to become part of your home's story for years to come.

What wood types and finishes are the kitchen islands available in?

Our kitchen islands are available in a range of beautiful wood types and finishes to suit your home. The Chester collection comes in Chester Dove Grey and Chester Charcoal, featuring high-quality oak veneers with a white wax tinted oil finish and painted panels. The Inglesham Whitewash Oak range showcases solid oak with a hand-applied whitewash finish that enhances the natural grain. For a classic look, the Sussex Cotswold Cream and Sussex Sage Green islands feature solid wood butcher's block tops with painted panels in their respective colours.

What are the dimensions of the islands, and will one fit in my kitchen?

Our kitchen islands come in a range of sizes to suit different spaces. The Chester Dove Grey kitchen island measures H90 x W148 x D63cm, while the smaller Chester Dove Grey butcher block island is H90 x W104 x D65cm. For a more compact option, the Inglesham Whitewash Oak small kitchen island measures H85 x W82 x D58cm. To help you decide if an island will fit in your kitchen, we recommend measuring your available space carefully and checking our 'Will it fit?' guide on each product page. Bear in mind you'll need clearance around the island for comfortable movement – we suggest leaving at least 90-100cm on all sides where possible.

Do the islands come with seating, or do I need to purchase stools separately?

The Chester Dove Grey breakfast bar island and stools set comes complete with three handy barstools, so you won't need to purchase them separately. The Chester Charcoal breakfast bar island with stools set also includes three barstools. However, our other kitchen islands – including the Chester Dove Grey kitchen island, Chester Charcoal kitchen island, and our butcher block islands – don't come with seating, so you'd need to purchase stools separately for those pieces.

Are the kitchen islands delivered flat-pack, part-assembled, or fully assembled?

All our kitchen islands are delivered fully assembled, so there's no need for any flat-pack assembly. Your island will arrive ready to use and will be delivered to your room of choice on the ground floor of your property (access permitting). Our delivery team will also remove and recycle all packaging. For more information about our delivery services, please visit our delivery page.

What is the lead time for delivery of the islands?

Kitchen islands are delivered within 10 working days. For more information about our delivery services and timescales, please visit our delivery page.

How do I care for and maintain the wood surfaces on the islands?

To keep your kitchen island's wood surfaces looking their best, simply wipe them down regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For tougher marks, use a mild soap solution, then dry thoroughly. We recommend treating the wood occasionally with a suitable furniture wax or oil to nourish and protect the finish. Always wipe up spills promptly and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For detailed guidance, visit our furniture care advice page.

Are the kitchen islands made from sustainably sourced materials?

Yes, all our kitchen islands are made from sustainably sourced materials. We're passionate about using wood responsibly and trace the chain of custody all the way from the trader and logger right back to the source forest. All our timber comes from licensed forests in countries where those licenses include sustainable reforestation. Our oak originates from either the USA or Germany, and our pine from New Zealand, Brazil or Bulgaria, depending on the range. You can find out more about our commitment to sustainable sourcing on our wood sourcing page.

Do the islands come with a warranty, and what does it cover?

Yes, all our kitchen islands come with The Cotswold Company 15-year Structural Guarantee for added peace of mind. This covers any faults to structural elements including frames, joints, hinges and handles. To find out more about what's included, visit our 15-year guarantee page.

Can the kitchen islands be matched with other furniture in The Cotswold Company range?

Yes, our kitchen islands work beautifully with other pieces from their respective collections. The Chester Dove Grey and Chester Charcoal kitchen islands coordinate perfectly with the full Chester range, while the Inglesham Whitewash Oak kitchen islands complement the complete Inglesham collection. Each range shares the same finish, handles and design details, making it easy to create a cohesive look throughout your kitchen and home.
