Every rug in our collection is handwoven by skilled artisans in India, using traditional techniques honed over generations. From hand-loom weaving to hand-tufting, each piece is made with care and attention to detail. That's why we use responsibly sourced, high-quality materials – because we believe in creating products built to last a lifetime, not just a season.

What materials are the rugs made from?

Our rugs are crafted from a variety of natural materials. Many are made from 100% pure wool, handwoven by skilled artisans in India. We also offer rugs in wool blends, such as 92% wool with 8% nylon, 60% wool with 40% polyester, and 52% wool with 48% cotton. For those who prefer natural plant fibres, our Sisal rugs combine 90% sisal with 10% cotton. Some designs also feature wool and viscose blends, such as 58% wool with 42% viscose.

What sizes are the rugs available in?

Our rugs are available in a range of sizes to suit different rooms and spaces. The most common sizes include 120 x 170cm, 160 x 230cm and 200 x 300cm. We also offer a runner size at 66 x 200cm, perfect for hallways and narrow spaces. Some styles are available in all of these sizes, while others come in a smaller selection – just check the individual product page to see which sizes are available for your chosen design.

Are the rugs suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, our rugs are suitable for underfloor heating. Many of our collection, including the Shilton, Milton Herringbone, Salford, Dauntsey and Clanfield ranges, work beautifully with heated flooring, bringing warmth and texture to your home while complementing your heating system.

Do the rugs come with an anti-slip backing?

Our rugs don't come with an anti-slip backing as standard. However, the Sisal Linen rug features an anti-slip backing, making it perfect for high-traffic areas. For other rugs in our collection, we recommend using a rug underlay or anti-slip mat to help keep them securely in place on your floors.

How do I care for and clean the rugs?

Our rugs are crafted from natural materials like wool, cotton and sisal, so they need a little care to keep them looking their best. Regular vacuuming will help remove dust and dirt – just avoid using a beater bar on wool rugs to prevent damage to the fibres. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing. For a deeper clean, we recommend professional cleaning to maintain the quality and texture. With the right care, your rug will bring warmth and comfort to your home for years to come.

Are the rugs suitable for high-traffic areas?

Yes, our rugs are well-suited for high-traffic areas. The Ford rugs, handwoven from a 52% wool and 48% cotton blend, offer a perfect balance of softness and durability. The Sisal Linen rugs feature anti-slip backing and a rough texture that's ideal for busy spaces. Many of our rugs are handwoven from 100% pure wool or wool blends by skilled artisans in India, making them sturdy and built to last.

Can I order a rug sample before purchasing?

We don't currently offer rug samples. However, all our rugs come with our no quibble returns policy, so you can order with confidence knowing you can return or exchange if it's not quite right for your home.

How are the rugs delivered, and what are the lead times?

Our rugs are delivered using one of two services depending on size. Standard Delivery costs £15.95 and arrives within 7 working days (Monday–Friday, 7am–9pm), with delivery to the ground floor front entrance. You can upgrade to Named Day Delivery for £25.95 to choose your preferred delivery date as soon as the next working day (Monday–Saturday), also to the ground floor front entrance. Do the rugs come with a warranty or guarantee?

Our rugs don't come with a warranty or guarantee. The Cotswold Company 15-year Guarantee covers furniture and upholstery, but homewares - including rugs - aren't included. However, we do offer a no-quibble returns policy, so if you're not happy with your rug, you can return or exchange it. For more details, visit our guarantee page.

What is the returns policy if a rug doesn't suit my space?

We offer a no quibble returns policy on all rugs. If your rug doesn't suit your space, you can return or exchange it with ease. Simply get in touch with our Customer Care team and we'll help arrange collection. Please note that return delivery charges apply. For complete peace of mind, all our rugs are also covered by our 15-year guarantee, protecting against any structural faults.
