Cupboards to suit every space and style

Our cupboard collection spans a variety of designs to suit different rooms and aesthetics. The Chester Dove Grey range offers clean-lined, modern country charm with painted finishes and contrasting oak tops – ideal for those who appreciate understated style. If you prefer something a little bolder, Chester Charcoal brings a sophisticated edge, while Chester Pure White keeps things fresh and light. For a more natural, Scandi-inspired look, our Berkeley Nordic Oak pieces showcase beautiful grain and gentle curves. You'll also find options in Chalford Warm White and Chalford Inky Blue, both featuring solid oak and quality oak veneer tops.

Sizes, shapes and clever configurations

Our cupboards come in a range of heights, widths and depths to fit comfortably into your home. Choose from compact double cupboards measuring around 70cm high, perfect as occasional storage or bedside alternatives, through to tall shaker-style designs reaching 183cm – ideal as larder cupboards or linen storage. For hallways, we offer specialist shoe cupboards with angled shelving to maximise space, as well as generous hallway cupboards with coat hooks and multiple compartments. Many designs feature adjustable or removable shelves, so you can tailor the interior to suit what you're storing.

Thoughtful design and quality materials

Each cupboard is carefully crafted with a blend of solid wood, quality oak veneer tops and painted finishes. Traditional woodworking techniques – including mortise and tenon frames and dovetail-jointed drawers on selected pieces – ensure strength and longevity. Hand-applied finishes, from clear wax to whitewash and painted surfaces, bring out the natural beauty of the timber while protecting it for years to come. Many of our cupboards arrive with a choice of oak or metal handles, so you can personalise the look to suit your home.

What wood types and finishes are the cupboards available in?

Our cupboards are available in a range of beautiful wood types and painted finishes. The Chester collection features high-quality oak veneer tops with a white wax tinted oil finish, paired with painted bases in Chester Dove Grey, Chester Charcoal, Chester Pure White, or Chester Classic Cream. For a natural oak look, the Inglesham Whitewash Oak range showcases hand-applied whitewash finishes that enhance the wood's natural grain, while Berkeley Nordic Oak offers a clear wax finish with cool undertones and a gently wire-brushed appearance. The Chalford collection combines solid oak and oak veneer tops with painted bases in either Chalford Warm White or Chalford Inky Blue.

Are the cupboards sold fully assembled or do they require self-assembly?

Our cupboards are delivered fully assembled, so there's no need to worry about any tricky DIY. They arrive ready to use and enjoy straight away.

What are the internal dimensions and storage configurations of the cupboards?

The internal storage configurations vary by cupboard. The Chester Dove Grey small double cupboard features two large shelves. The Chester Dove Grey shaker cupboard has two adjustable shelves with one fixed middle shelf. The Chalford cupboards include two drawers and two interior shelves. The Chester hallway cupboards offer removable shelving – the 2-door version has three shelves with four double coat hooks, while the 3-door version has removable shelving with eight double coat hooks.

How are the cupboards constructed and what joinery techniques are used?

Our cupboards are built to last using traditional woodworking techniques. The Chester range features mortise and tenon solid wood frames for superior strength, whilst the Berkeley Nordic Oak collection uses the same traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Are finish or paint samples available to try before purchasing a cupboard?

Yes, you can request free wood samples to see how the finish will look in your home before purchasing. You'll find the option to request samples on each product page. Alternatively, you can view our full list of available wood samples here. These should arrive within a few working days, helping you choose the perfect finish for your cupboard.

How should the cupboards be cleaned and maintained to preserve their finish?

To keep your cupboards looking their best, simply wipe them down with a soft, damp cloth. For the painted surfaces, avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. The oak and oak veneer tops have been finished with a protective wax, so a gentle clean is all that's needed to maintain their natural beauty. Regular dusting and prompt attention to any spills will help preserve the finish for years to come.

What warranty or guarantee is provided with the cupboards?

All cupboards come with The Cotswold Company 15-year Structural Guarantee, giving you added peace of mind. This covers structural elements including frames, joints, hinges and handles. Find out more about our guarantee.

Are the materials used in the cupboards sustainably and ethically sourced?

Yes, all our timber is sustainably sourced. We trace the chain of custody from trader and logger right back to the source forest, ensuring all forests are licensed and located in countries where those licenses include sustainable reforestation. Our oak comes from either the USA or Germany, whilst our pine originates from New Zealand, Brazil or Bulgaria, depending on the range. You can read more about our wood sourcing here.
