In the second part of our Spring Series, we’re talking all things Bedroom. As we come into the brighter months of spring, we are no longer met with those damp, dark mornings which seem to make it nigh-on impossible to wake from our sleepy slumbers. The start of spring means – for many of us – that we now wake to birdsong and blue skies. While of course, we can still expect the odd drizzly day of rain and grey clouds, the sun is rising much earlier; which helps getting up all the more easier!
What about those days where we needn’t rely on our alarms though? Those rare days that we can enjoy a guilt-free lay-in? It is these mornings when we are particularly grateful for a relaxing, personal and beautiful space in which to laze and savour.
As we mentioned in Three Small Room Updates, spring presents the perfect opportunity for a refresh. While in that post we were focusing more on those rooms we don’t tend to relax in, here we’re thinking about the one room in which you do. A room that, quite possibly, can impact every day living the most. It isn’t just the mornings where we can appreciate our bedrooms either; after a long and tiresome day, there is little more tempting than walking into your bedroom and seeing your bed. Make it a calm, serene and relaxing place to return to then, whatever its size.

Go white – If you’re looking to make your bedroom feel light, bright and welcoming, using neutral tones, textures and colours will naturally help. White painted furniture – like our Chantilly White and Burford Painted collections – is both practical and versatile and a great option if you want to use a splash of colour on the walls. If you’re prone to changing your mind when it comes to paint shades, white painted furniture will continue to slot in seamlessly too – so it’s a perfectly timeless option.
Mirrors – This may seem obvious, but the best way to make a room appear bigger is by introducing a little bit of trickery. Mirrors reflect light, whether you hang them, lean them or pop them on a shelf, so they’re a brilliant and worthwhile investment if you’re decorating a smaller bedroom.
Textures – Think about the materials you add into your bedroom. While these won’t necessarily help a space to feel bigger, they will help to make it feel cosy and welcoming. Natural elements – If you’d like to create a more country-inspired bedroom to retreat to each night, it’s all about hues and textures. Think light, natural and rustic. Go dark – While we’re often told that going with lighter colours and neutral furniture will make a room feel bigger – the perfect solution for smaller bedrooms – having a room that feels intimate and cosy can actually come from using darker shades too.
